Bamboo Scarves - Wraps
A sustainable resource, bamboo does not require chemical pesticides or fertilizers. It takes in greenhouse gasses and produces oxygen, more oxygen than its equivalent in trees. A day’s growth may be up to three feet or more, and it is harvestable in four to five years. There is no need for replanting after harvesting, as new shoots are continuously growing. Therefore, bamboo does not contribute to deforestation. Bamboo as a textile fiber is extremely durable, but very soft with a natural sheen, giving it a texture similar to silk or cashmere. It is more breathable and thermal regulating than cotton, hypoallergenic, wicks away moisture and provides UV protection. Bamboo’s bacteriostatic properties make it naturally odor inhibiting. Handwoven pieces are available in naturally colored bamboo and Antrim Handweaving's own naturally hand-dyed colors. © 2008 Antrim Handweaving – all rights reserved |
